InterTECH – The Electronic Security Integrator for the All-Star Game

Official press release on InterTECH Security's involvement with the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, held this year at PNC Park:

InterTECH Security, LLC is the security integration partner of the Pittsburgh Pirates and PNC Park. InterTECH’s Information Technology expertise and understanding on how to have several key factors of communication in place for mass monitoring crowds are what made InterTECH the right choice for such an event.

The planning process started over a year ago with a full scale evacuation exercise that was conducted at PNC Park. Part of the exercise was to evaluate the existing electronic security systems and consider how the system could be enhanced. Best of all, from a patron’s standpoint, the high-tech safety and security levels which were in place were done so without being obtrusive to the fun and festivities. InterTECH installed and maintained all the cameras and access control systems and other electronic security needs of All-Star event and the ball park. This was not the first venture of this type for InterTECH, who also does similar work at Heinz Field for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With an event as large and publicized as the Major League Baseball All-Star game, security was a major priority for MLB, the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and the Pirates organization. “There are any number of officials and agencies that need access to security systems and equipment at the ball park and surrounding area. InterTECH was asked by the Pirates and the City of Pittsburgh to integrate those systems so law enforcement and emergency response teams could take full advantage of as many security system programs from central locations.” Matt Petnuch, Vice President of Marketing for InterTECH explains. InterTECH provided the expertise and manpower to make sure all necessary venues had adequate video surveillance and other security system monitoring.

InterTECH engineered a solution that brought multiple software and hardware solutions together into one location were cameras could not only be monitored but also controlled. Access and visitor management systems were also monitored as well as fire alarm systems. This provided a blanket of security that was controlled at multiple locations by a small group of professionals.

All systems worked as designed. Many of the agencies expressed their satisfaction with the results.
