MSN Article Warns of Counterfeit Credentials

Late yesterday, MSN posted an article posted an article by Brock Meeks on the security threats posed by counterfeit government credentials. The article explains that an individual with a counterfeit FBI, police, DEA, or Secret Service badge will likely only have the badge, or a falsified printed credential, but not both at the same time.

The article also mentions the potential security risks posed by the possibility of more mundane credentials being faked - such as "hospital inspectors" or even delivery personnel.

InterTECH Security suggests standardized security badges with anti-counterfeit features, and a clearly established policy for challenging visitors for identification. High traffic facilities may want to consider an automated visitor management system. Contact InterTECH for more information.
