AMAG Releases an XML Interface
AMAG Technology Inc announced Wednesday that Version 5.0.1 of its Security Management System is available with an XML interface - one of the first in the security industry - to allow broader integration with third-party applications. AMAG listed the following as benefits to adding the XML option to its security management software:
- Easy inter-platform integration - Use of the industry standard XML and Web Services technologies simplifies and standardizes the task of linking diverse systems.
- Saving time when entering data - An existing payroll or personnel database can be imported into the SMS, avoiding the need to re-enter data.
- Common user interface - A common user interface can be used to control key elements of the SMS and third-party systems. This can increase efficiency and reduce training costs.
- Database sharing - The cardholder information in the SMS database can be accessed by a third-party system, allowing the sharing of staff data and reducing database maintenance.
- Integration with Building Management Systems - Monitor points set up in the SMS software can be used to switch on or off heating and ventilation systems. This can improve building management efficiency and minimize energy consumption.
- Integration with Intruder Detection System - Commands from SMS readers can be used to arm or disarm some types of intruder system, and SMS monitor points (such as motion detectors) can be used as additional sensors. This can result in the need for less hardware, and reduced costs.
